Description of Bygone Peony

This is an original drypoint etching of a peony blossom. It was made by carving the image onto a copper plate, then inking it and running it through a press onto printmaking paper. The color used gives this an antique/old fashioned feeling. I did an additional process on this print called “Chine cole” This means that the image itself has been printed on a decorative Japanese paper which was glued to the printmaking paper. This is done all in one step creating a unique design. You can see the subtle pattern of the Japanese paper when you look at the close up picture. The pattern is a flower design in a light embossed look. The image size of this is 4×6 inches and is matted in 8×10 mat and framed.
