14 3/16"x12" Printmaking, unframed

Description of Country Store Original Etching

This piece is an original drypoint etching marked 1/5 and signed by myself. It is of a Country Store in Ivyland, Pa. It is matted in a black mat and printed on ivory printmaking paper. This is not framed.

The image was made by scratching onto a metal plate with a sharp point. The scratched lines, being lower than the original surface can receive ink and print onto paper that is run through and etching press. The general term Intaglio is from the Italian Itagliare which means to engrave carve or cut.
